I think one of the biggest mistruths we've been peddled (as good advice) is "WORK HARD."
Why don't I agree with this sentiment? For a couple of reasons:
First of all, we are more likely to give up on a project or a dream if we feel that we're not "working hard" enough for it to come together.
Secondly - I certainly, personally feel more accomplished when I come from a place of ease and flow: When I'm *not* feeling like I have to punish or push myself; when I'm feeling completely connected with my passion and purpose.
What does ease feel like? It's
stepping in vs. fighting against
content vs. contempt
wonder vs. worry
attraction vs. distraction
desire vs. distress
Notice what makes you feel as if you're flowing right into it. As if it's the most natural thing in the world.
Now, how can you capture that essence as you step into your life?
How can you use your sensation of ease to make your next plans?
In my yoga practice, and when I’m teaching yoga classes to others, I love to bring in the idea of inviting an intention into the hour. Just a silent word or a phrase, something I’d like to bring into my own life or something I’d like to extend to someone else.
My word for the last couple years has been “ease.” Letting go of the need to fight against or push through, to prove myself right or to overdo efforts that may only leave me feeling deflated.
Since welcoming the concept of EASE as much as possible, I’ve been grateful to remind myself that struggle shouldn’t be the norm; that flow is more likely to happen when we don’t dam its path.
Finding the route of least resistance doesn’t necessarily equate to laziness. It can mean self-knowledge that can springboard us into some pretty amazing fulfillment.
Wishing you ease today
Usually, we don’t have the foggiest idea where the path may lead us, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t step onto it, especially if that ground feels firm and welcoming beneath our feet.
When was the last time you let your heart and your spine turn together toward the unknown, with that quiet certainty whispering that everything was going to be okay?
What would it take for you to trust yourself to put one foot down, and then the other, even if your cadence was a little wobbly?
Because a little wobble is just fine.
Your feet know which path will support you.
Your heart knows who will be there along the way. It might just be you!
But you might meet a kindred spirit!
Step in, step in. You got this.
